All the information about European roulette: is it really better than the other types?

European game is one of the most widespread roulette variations of the game at all. Sometimes it is named French roulette making a hash in terms as it appears that there exists original true French version which differs from European one a little.

European wheel peculiarities

European version has a roulette wheel with 37 slots on it which present 36 numbers from 1 to 36 and an extra slot for one zero. That is why European wheel is often called a 'single zero wheel'. All the pockets are red and black coloured in succession with one exception: the slot for single zero has green colour. Because it has only one zero position a lot of players often prefer European game to American roulette.

The whole sense of the game is that players are trying to guess a result of the wheel and a little plastic or ivory ball spins. To put in other way, they make predictions about the slot where this ball will land on.

In European roulette the 'En prison" rule is often used which increases its popularity significantly. The matter is that this rule gives an additional advantage for players in the following way: when the ball lands in zero pocket gamblers are allowed to take back a half of their bet or, otherwise, they can retain the bet and go on playing. If this is the case and the ball hits zero again, then the gamblers lose the whole bet.
